Alex's First Thanksgiving

Jay and I decided we would drive to Las Cruces for Thanksgiving with his family this year.  After a long drive and many pit stops later we arrived to be greeted by Alex's grandpa and great grandpa.  Jay's whole family was there and needless to say Alex got spoiled big time.  Grandma Sandy insisted on doing every single diaper change while we there (no complaints here).  Lots of good food, good drinks and family made for a fantastic mini holiday.  We even got to see the balloon crew and Jay's good friend Ernie.

2 Weeks Old

We took Alex for his two week well check.  He weighed in at 7 pounds and 1/4 oz.  We were more than thrilled.  I guess the breastfeeding thing is working pretty well.  You always worry that you are not giving your baby enough, and since my milk came in late I guess I worried more than most.  He is 20 inches and 3/4 long and his head circumference is 36.4 cm.  Which is all normal. His weight is in the 5th percentile and height is in the 75th percentile.  This appointment was funny.  We went straight back to the room because there was a sick child in the waiting room and I starting changing Alex and he decided to have projectile poop all over me and the floor. Then Dr. Price came in and he peed all over her.  She is very good natured and laughed it off.  I am sure its not the first time that has happened.  they gave me a paper that says Congratulations on the birth of your new Little Texan.  It hadn't really hit home until I read that, that Alex is Texan.AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH

Our First Walk

After keeping Alex all bundled up inside for the past two weeks it was time to show him the hood. This is a picture of our first walk around our San Gabriel Heights neighbourhood. Sydney even joined us. We love the Peg Perego stroller I agonized over for two months.

Alexander James Gilson

Alexander James Gilson makes his appearance on this overcast 24th day of October at the Georgetown Hospital.  Weighing in at 6 lbs 3 oz, and 20 inches long and with the sweetest, most innocent look on his face.  Didn't come out crying but when those nurses got a hold of him he let them have it.  This is the first day of the rest of our lives.

C'Mon Petocin

It's 8:00 in the morning and I've got the petocin flowing through the old veins.  And oh boy it's starting to kick in.  No rest between contractions that's for sure.  Up until about noon everything was going smoothly and I thought this labor thing was easy and I was actually phoning all my friends between contractions!!  Sure changed my mind a few hours later when the drugs really kicked in.

The Room

This is Alex's room.  I was so excited to put together his room.  Everyone kept asking what the theme was going to be, but I didn't really have one.  I thought about doing one, but decided against it.  I had so many neat things that I'd collected over the years that I wanted to put into it that just didn't fit any kind of theme.  If there is a theme I guess it would be dragonflies.  Dragonflies are my favorite insect and also happen to be the mascot of MRGC so the choice is fitting.  I think the room turned out great, it is definitely my favorite room in the house which is good cause I will probably be spending a lot of time in here.  Now we have everything but the baby.
