Corn on the Cob

The weather in Texas right now is fantastic. We grill almost every night and eat on the back porch. This is Alex eating his corn on the cob (probably the only bite he took) at his little spot at our table.

Graduation

Alex's school held a small moving on ceremony for all the classes. It was held at the church affiliated with his school on the last day of classes. His teacher Ms. maxine said a little something about each child and then gave them a diploma and a book that the had made throughout the year. Before the diplomas the whole school sang some songs with actions. Alex and his little friend Larissa, who sat beside him, were the only two who acted as though it was the first time they had ever heard those songs. The whole thing was very cute. I have a lot of on film which I will download at some point. We all went back to the school after and had a hot dog lunch and played in the sandbox. Unfortunately Alex had a potty accident on the St. Helen's altar during the graduation, apart from that though it was a really fun event.

These are the jammies that Stephanie gave Alex last time we visited Las Cruces. He loves them and the little cape that goes on the back. One of his favorite games to play nowadays is Olympic jumping on our bed. This entails me holding his hands and helping him go very high-so high we have to be careful not to hit the fan. Hearing his little giggles makes the pain I get in my arms from this worth it. I am hoping to gain some big muscles too.

Miscellaneous Shots

These are just a few cute ones of Alex hanging out. The first one is at the Creative Playscape in Georgetown (one of our favorite places to go and it is right beside my gym so we are there all the time), the next one is at at a birthday party and then the others are naked times in the backyard.

Mother's Day

Jay's brother sent this picture of Alex to me on Mother's Day. This is the best gift a mom could ask for-a beautiful picture of her child, and to sleep in (which I got too). Jay gave me three great books (City of Thieves-great book) and Alex gave me a picture he had made at school. He also gave me his health. He had been very ill the week before with hand, foot and mouth disease which was horrible. He could not eat, sleep or barely drink for almost 5 days. He lived on the drinkable yogurts, without those he would have wasted away. We couldn't even tempt him with donuts, candy, nothing. Poor thing was miserable and as a result so were we. We would find ourselves up at 3 in the morning watching Cars or Spirit just so he would stop crying. He missed two weeks of school which was not fun either but we wanted to make sure he was completely cured before sending him back!!

Strawberry Explosion

With 12 pounds of strawberries to use I had a lot of baking to do. I am not really sure what came over me as I am not normally so productive but I was very impressed with the final products as were my nieghbors and of course Jay and Alex who got to sample it all. Yummers!! Very therapeutic. My neighbor Sigi is very inspirational when it comes to cooking and baking-she gives me lots of great recipes and always shares what she cooks with us.

Strawberry Picking

Alex and I headed out for our annual outing to Sweetberry Farms in Marble Falls to pick our strawberries. This year we have had lots of rain which made for some yummy strawberries but for some very muddy fields. We attempted to dig for potatoes too but gave up after we discovered how much work it was. Alex loves the animals out there. When we were eating lunch by the goats we actually had a goat jump up onto out table and try to eat with us. Needless to say the goats are very friendly and somehow have escaped their cage and some actually roam free begging for any food they can get. Last year when we went Alex was quite timid around the goats but this year he fed them and pet them. He loved seeing the horses and donkeys too. We ended the day with 12 pounds of strawberries and a strawberry popsicle.
