The Elvis Wedding

After a pretty hellish airplane trip to Canada we finally arrived only about 28 hours late and made the long drive up to Sudbury to our very dear friends' wedding. Since they had actually already been officially married in Las Vegas they decided to throw an Elvis themed party for friends and family. It was a lot of fun and everybody in Sudbury welcomed us so kindly. Alex dressed up as Elvis and got to be part of the ring bearing crew-and he did wonderful!! It was great to see some Albuquerque faces and do some good old fashioned partying-a la Debbie style. Alex was so awesome and out partied most of the Americans and even some of the Canadians there.

Kiddie Acres

Today Alex and I headed to the Kiddie Acres Amusement Park. This place is great, it is totally geared toward toddlers, any older and they wouldn't be interested. Wednesday was dollar day so we rode all the rides. Alex even went on the pony ride which surprised me because two weeks ago he didn't want anything to do with the pony rides at the library. He loved all the rides and rode them all by himself (which make mommy happy as I am not a ride person).

Splash Pad

Today we went to Champion Park to play in the sand. They also have a mini splash pad there that caught Alex's eye. Although I was totally unprepared for the water that did not stop Alex from running through the water screaming with delight. We went to parks like this last summer and they scared Alex. It is so amazing to watch him growing up and growing more confident with everything he does. I feel so privileged to be able to share in his every minute of every day.

My First Haircut

Today I took Alex for his first haircut at Snippets. It was a very emotional moment for me as I stood watching his precious curls fall to the floor. I had to fight back the tears. I know it's only hair, but it was his baby hair, all his hair since he was born. He still looked like a baby with his curls and now he looks like a big boy!! I was proud of him, he sat so still and was so well behaved. The hairdresser was very impressed with him. I have his locks in a little baggy. Maifa told me tonight that in China they turn the first haircut hair into a calligraphy pen-so she is going to bring it back to China with her!! The rest will go in his babybook.

Sea World

While Jay's brother was here we took the big trip to Sea World. After paying a lot of money just to get in the door and park we embarked on a very long day of feeding dolphins, riding roller coasters, eating very expensive food, watching Shamu and seeing acrobats do some pretty amazing things. Having never been to any kind of theme park as a kid or an adult I was extremely impressed and am anxiously looking forward to our next trip back hopefully with Maifa and Jack.

Phil, Diana, Nat and Steph Visit

We were lucky to have a great visit from Jay's brother and family. After driving all night to get to us they arrived Friday morning, with their two dogs, Romeo and Ray. Alex loves Ray, it' s the first thing he would say every morning, "Ray, Ray" but of course it sounded more like "Way, Way". Even after chewing several of Alex's toys, pooping and peeing on the floor, and knocking Alex to the ground, Alex loves Ray. It was so great having them here, but it made us miss Albuquerque even more. We'll get back there someday!!

Ice Cream, Ice Cream We All Scream for Ice Cream

Alex was introduced to ice cream by his Auntie Jeanne while we were in Las Cruces. He has had licks from us before but never a whole one to himself. Needless to say he was impressed and wanted more, more, more. What can I say, he's go good taste.
