Having Fun at the Chuy's parade

The annual Chuy's parade was lots of fun this year. It is fun just going downtown Austin and doing something different. We met up with Jackie and Tyler this year which made it that much more fun. The parade is always just that little bit different (it is Austin after all) so we really like watching it. At about a half way point the parade stops and all the kids can run on the street and give their blue Santa presents in-it is really amazing to watch all the kids donate the gifts especially this year when so many more families are in need.

Raking Leaves

Something we don't get to do very often is rake leaves, most people would be overjoyed by this but Alex loves the jumping in part after they are piled. Since most of the trees on our property shed in the spring (live oaks) we don't have much of an opportunity, and since the weather has been so beautiful lately our Cottonwood hasn't hardly even dropped any leaves. However we did manage to rake enough up to have some fun in the leaves today.

Trip to San Antonio

On November 14th we took a mini trip to San Antonio for me to run in my first half marathon. I had been training for many months losing lots of weight in the process and gaining lots of strength and speed. I started out only being able to barely run 2 miles but someone told me I would not be able to run the 13.1 by November which made me extremely determined to do it and do it I did. I did the run in 2 hours and 7 minutes and 37 seconds much to the surprise of myself and many others. Running with 32,000 other runners is a major motivator for me and I tried to beat them all, I think I came in somewhere in the 4000 th place. The whole weekend was really fun. We went up on Saturday and hung out along the River Walk and eating lots of carbs. As Jay likes to say I carb overloaded. We did the River Walk boat cruise and the driver actually pulled over for Alex to take a potty break and the the driver had the everyone on the boat cheer for Alex when he got back on the boat much to the surprise of Jay and Alex.
