Feeding the Ducks
Here is Alex doing one of his favourite passtimes in San Gabriel Park. But he only feeds the nice ducks and geese, not the mean ones.

Big Boy Bed
My little boy is growing up, right before my eyes, I love it and hate it at the same time. Tonight is his first night in his new big boy bed. We have actually had the bed for quite some time now but have hesitated about doing the transition. I finally set it up in his new room today. I didn't want him to see it until his room was all ready but that didn't happen. I left his crib up in his old room and thought that we would transition when he decided he was ready. Well that was tonight!! No question where he was sleeping tonight. It really helped too that I got him new cars sheets and blanket. He was a little hesitant to go to sleep at first and got a little teary but after lots of kisses, mole kisses (he loves to kiss our moles), hugs, etc. he settled in and I have only now just heard a little peep from him but he has quickly gone back to sleep. I have checked on him a couple of times and he is snoring away. I am hoping that the rest of the night all is quiet. It is amazing how all these little changes result in my little one growing up or I guess it is really the other way around. I love watching him grow and now when I look at him I don't see a little baby anymore I see my little boy and I can almost imagine what he will look like in a few years from now. Luckily he still loves his cuddles.

Bedtime for Alex
Alex has developed a strange bedtime ritual of having to have all of his animals underneath him before he goes to bed. At times this can be upwards of 10 stuffed animals. If we ask him which ones he needs he always replies "all of them". He actually sleeps like this most of the night. Jay and I will try to sneak some of the animals out every couple of days but they always end up back in and he usually will know if one is missing and which one it is. What a sweetheart he is!!

My Fourth Haircut
Today was about 80 degrees (Fahrenheit) and absolutely gorgeous. This is the weather I live for. Alex was in desparate need of a haircut so we took him to the barber that Jay goes to, Mark. He had actually been there before but I didn't go with them so there was no photos of the event. Jay is not great with the camera. The first time Jay took him I guess no one wanted to do the toddler's hair for fear of kicking and screaming so Mark got stuck with him. Everyone in the whole shop was pleasantly surprised with how well Alex did. He just sits there and watches in the mirror. They couldn't stop talking about how great he was. This time was no different, he has this cute look he does when he is trying not to smile that I think I captured in one of the photos. He got a big lollipop at the end. After the haircut we went and fed the nice ducks, not the mean ones and then out for dinner. What a great day we had!!

Cars
Alex is still fascinated by all the characters from the movie Cars. Today we went to a Nascar party as a friend's house and their son had at least 50 of those Cars. Alex brought them all out from the toy room and lined them up while we all watched the race. He did this for the better part of two hours. This was also the same party that Jay and I won the Nascar contest and each took home $30. It is always nice to leave a party with more money than you came with.

Playdate Fun
Alex went to his friend's house today and had a blast. She had the coolest playhouse ever. It was like a mini house complete with kitchen sink, stove, hardwood floors, flowers, air conditioning and tons more. All the kids loved it. These are some pictures of Alex in the playhouse and all the other fun stuff he got to do. Wouldn't it be fun to have one in your backyard?

Swimming Lessons
On February 2, 2009 our new recreation center opened just down the street in Georgetown. We have been waiting for this to open for a long time. It was worth the wait. Alex loves the new indoor pool-so much that it is really hard for me to leave the place without taking him swimming. It actually works out great because after my workout we go to the pool together for his mini workout. I can already see improvement in his confidence in the water. He can jump in and swim to me (just a few strokes). The pool is very kid friendly with lots of fun lights and water squirty things. There is an outdoor part to the pool too that will open in the summer. This is Alex in the change room eating his snack. Swimming definitely builds up an appetite.
