May 2 my mum and I headed down to Victoria Park in London for the big race. She did the 5 k and I did the half marathon. It was such a treat to be able to run in my hometown and know every corner and turn in the race (not sure if that was an advantage or disadvantage) but it certainly got me a PR of 1:48 which I am quite proud of. It was also great to run my house, my sister's house and my brother's house with them cheering me on. It makes such a difference to have that support along the course. I am also proud of my mum who placed 2nd in her age group and finished with a great time of 39 minutes. She is now looking ahead to the next race.
